I am applying for approval for the first time. Which level can I use, and what is the deadline?
For a new tyre approval, use the current 00 series · Supplement 21 requirements. Supplement 21 sets no separate application deadline or period for applying under earlier requirements.
- R75 covers component approval of new pneumatic tyres for category L vehicles. Tyres intended exclusively for off-road use and marked NHS, and tyres designed exclusively for competition, are excluded.
Include the tyre-size designation, category of use, speed/load capability and required drawings or test reports in your application.
What is the latest level, and until when can I use it?
The current level is the 00 series · Supplement 21, in force since 11 January 2026. No common end date is specified for using this level.
- The tyre’s speed and load capability, category of use and rim dimensions must match your application. Permission to fit it to a vehicle also depends on the applicable vehicle requirements.
Prepare the dimensions, markings and tests for your new application under the 00 series · Supplement 21.
Do I need to update my existing approval, and by when?
There is no common date requiring every existing approval to be renewed. If the tyre type was first approved before 31 August 2020, extensions may be granted without applying the new Supplement 18 requirements.
- This exception does not cover a first application for a new tyre type. A change to the type or the declared speed/load capability may require further testing.
Give the approval authority the original approval date and details of the change. Use this information to establish which tests the extension requires.
