Approval and application context

The notes below help you assess the scope and conditions. The regulatory text and its exceptions govern your application.

I am applying for approval for the first time. Which level can I use, and what is the deadline?

You can apply under the 00 series for approval of your agricultural tractor’s driver field of vision. R71 sets no separate deadline for new applications.

  • This approval covers the driver’s 180° forward field of vision on agricultural tractors. It does not cover all other vehicle and equipment requirements.

Include the tractor description and required drawings with your application, and provide a representative tractor for testing.

What is the latest level, and until when can I use it?

The current level is the 00 series, which entered into force on 1 August 1987. R71 gives no end date for using this level.

  • Your tractor must continue to conform to the approved type and meet the field-of-vision requirements.

Use the 00 series for your application. Check your tractor’s field of vision and approval mark against these requirements.

Do I need to update my existing approval, and by when?

R71 sets no mandatory date for updating to a newer level. If you modify the approved tractor type, notify the authority that granted the approval; it decides whether further testing is needed.

  • A change to the approved type may require another test. Production must also remain consistent with the approved type.

If the type has changed, send the drawings and a description of the changes to the approval authority.
