Approval and application context
The notes below help you assess the scope and conditions. The regulatory text and its exceptions govern your application.
Which level can I use for a new approval?
The regulation still permits new approvals to preceding series. For a new application, use 01 series · Supplement 1 to avoid the acceptance limits that affect older approvals.
- This covers the arrangement and operation of foot controls in M1 passenger vehicles.
- Other countries need not accept preceding-series approvals first issued after 1 September 2022.
Apply to the latest level and confirm acceptance in the countries where you will use the approval.
What is the latest level, and how long can I use it?
The latest level is 01 series · Supplement 1, effective from 4 June 2026. It sets no new expiry date for approvals to the 01 series.
- Supplement 1 updates three references; it does not change the pedal spacing requirements.
- The existing transition rules continue to distinguish older approvals by their first issue date.
Use the latest references for a new application.
Must I update my existing approval?
Supplement 1 does not require you to renew every existing approval. Preceding-series approvals first issued before 1 September 2022 must continue to be accepted.
- Countries may still grant preceding-series approvals and extensions.
- Changes affecting the pedal layout must be notified to the authority that granted the approval.
Check the series and first issue date on your certificate. Notify the authority before changing the pedal layout.
