Approval and application context
The notes below help you assess the scope and conditions. The regulatory text and its exceptions govern your application.
I am applying for approval for the first time. Which level can I use, and what is the deadline?
No new type approvals under R52 may be granted from 1 April 2008. Check the applicable R107 requirements separately for a new vehicle application.
- For single-deck rigid M2 and M3 vehicles carrying no more than 22 passengers in addition to the driver. Additional national accessibility requirements may apply.
Do not prepare a new type approval application under R52; determine the current approval route for your vehicle.
What is the latest level, and until when can I use it?
The latest R52 level is 01 series · Supplement 9, in force from 10 November 2007. It does not reopen new approvals. It can be used for extensions of approvals granted before 1 April 2008.
- For single-deck rigid M2 and M3 vehicles carrying no more than 22 passengers in addition to the driver. Additional national accessibility requirements may apply.
For an extension, identify the original issue date and approval number in your application.
Must I update my existing approval or test report? To which level and by when?
Extensions for vehicles approved under R52 before 1 April 2008 may not be refused. For first registration from 12 August 2010, however, a country may refuse a vehicle that does not meet the 02 series of R107. This does not automatically invalidate all existing approvals.
- For single-deck rigid M2 and M3 vehicles carrying no more than 22 passengers in addition to the driver. Additional national accessibility requirements may apply.
Confirm R107/02 conformity and national acceptance conditions with the country of first registration.
